“I built this company with my two hands… literally!”

When I started landscaping, I was a college dropout just trying to make something happen. In a desperate attempt to find a decent paying job, I searched Craigslist and found a full-time landscape laborer position. The job was only 7.5 miles from my home, but I didn’t have a car and the local buses didn’t go in the direction of the shop, so that first year I walked 15 miles every day to and from work.

Despite how difficult the job was when I first got started, I often stood out to clients and fellow employees as the hardest working guy on any crew. Six years later, I emerged from that small company as a talented lead foreman, certified pesticide applicator, turf management specialist, stone installing, and tree planting expert. Around that same time, I also found out how much money I was making my boss, in comparison to how much I was bringing home to my family, and the need to move on became ever more apparent.

In 2017, I took a leap of faith and sent off my first invoice for my own landscaping installation. I booked the gig, quit my job, and have worked tirelessly over the last 3 years to build a name for myself as one of the best in my industry – but this time for myself. I went from grooming random new hires into solid landscapers for another company, to training and employing young men that looked like me and needed a new skill and someone to believe in them. And here we are today. I’m the owner of Marvelous Landscaping. I offer a variety of quality landscaping services and I love my job. I’ve put so much into it that it only makes more sense to keep giving it my all. I’m dope at what I do and I am unapologetically proud of that. So until God says it’s time to stop, I’m going to keep selling this Marvelous work.
